How the analysis works
Clear Indicia runs a multi-stage analysis on written communications, examining context, detecting manipulation patterns, anchoring findings to evidence, verifying claims, and producing a structured report.
The analysis stages
Each conversation passes through a series of analytical stages. The result is a comprehensive, evidence-referenced report rather than a single score or label.
Conversation parsing
The system identifies participants, separates individual messages, and maps the structure of the exchange, establishing who said what and when.
Narrative context
An initial analysis establishes the situation, key themes, and participant roles, providing context for the deeper pattern analysis that follows.
Deep pattern detection
The core analysis identifies communication pattern indicators including DARVO, reality distortion, power dynamic abuse, ghost authority threats, and obligation asymmetries.
Semantic mapping
Maps rhetorical strategies across the conversation, including redirected topics, dead-end patterns, and attempts to control the flow of communication.
Evidence anchoring
Every identified tactic is linked to the specific quote where it occurs. No finding exists without a direct reference to the source text.
Claim verification
Factual claims made within the conversation are cross-referenced against the thread itself, flagging contradictions, inconsistencies, and causal inversions.
What it detects
The analysis is trained on documented psychological constructs and manipulation frameworks. It identifies specific, named tactics rather than generic sentiment.
- DARVO: Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender, with each stage identified separately in the analysis.
- Reality distortion: Denial of documented events, selective reframing, minimisation of stated concerns, and attempts to destabilize the other party's account.
- Ghost authority: References to unnamed legal, financial, or institutional consequences designed to intimidate without providing specifics that could be challenged.
- Escalation patterns: How tactics shift and intensify across the conversation timeline, from subtle deflection to overt blame reversal or intimidation.
Report output
The final report brings together all stages of the analysis into a structured, actionable document.
Named tactics with evidence
Each manipulation tactic is identified by name and linked to the specific quote where it occurs, verifiable by anyone reading the report.
Severity and likelihood assessment
A calibrated rating of overall manipulation likelihood and individual tactic severity provides a structured basis for understanding the conduct.
Verified and disputed claims
Factual claims from the conversation that have been checked against the thread, with contradictions and inconsistencies clearly flagged.
Draft communication
A role-aware communication draft uses explicit author, recipient, purpose, and tone choices.
